My short film in the media

I think it would be interesting to see how my media products would look in real media terms, this will allow me to see how realistic and professional my products would appear on software such as iTunes as well as potential merchandise to extend the brand and create more revenue.

According to Wikipedia, as of June 2013, the iTunes Store possesses 575 million active user accounts, and serves over 315 million mobile devices, including Apple WatchesiPodsiPhonesApple TVand iPads. This means that by placing my film on this store it will be able to reach potentially millions of people, potentially earning large amounts of revenue as the price will be around £2.99 for the film which is affordable for my target audience. As you can see, I have pasted by film poster onto the store and it looks realistic and eye catching in comparison to the real film titles, showing the following of real media conventions.

In researching merchandise and DVD's ect, I found that many TV shows, films, artists and short films are licensed to companies who produce products for them related to the brand and product to increase revenue and widen the marketability and profitability of the brand. A great example includes the many licensing deals for popular TV show such as Breaking Bad which  has many companies working with them to create products and merchandise.

I researched what companies I could work with to create merchandise for the short film, if it becomes succesful. Sequels ect could be made as well as a potential feature film version which would further expand the brand and wrap up loose elements of the narrative such as the death of Lauren and how Harry covers up Carl's death. This is seen in real life media all the time, with film series such as Toy Story spanning 3 sequels to create more revenue whilst also satisfying the audience who grow to love the characters in the films.

Companies like ABG manage and market brands such as WWE TV shows, Michael Jackson, Muhammad Ali, Elvis and Marilyn Monroe to create merchandise ect. These seem to focus on celebrities so this company may not be the best to work with, although they manage WWE which is a big TV show worldwide so they may be interested in short film.

The best company to work with may be Pyramid, whose 2015 catalogue I have featured, which work with many famous films like Frozen, Despicable Me, artists and TV Shows. This will allow me to reach a higher number of people within my target audience of social grade E as the posters are inexpensive and according to the website 'key partnerships and solo supply agreements with a broad spectrum of retailers, such as Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, WH Smith, Next, The Range, TK Maxx, B&Q, BHS, Calendar Club and over 1000 independents. ' meaning that more people will see the products out shopping for example.
